Samsung Milk expands beyond Galaxy devices and adds virtual reality

Samsung’s Milk platform, which allows users to listen to music and watch videos on Samsung Galaxy devices, is about to get a lot more versatile.

The company announced on Monday at CES that Milk Video and Milk music are expanding beyond beyond Galaxy devices

Milk Video is moving to a new app on Samsung smart TVs so users can stream content directly to a TV, rather than just on mobile. Also coming this spring is a web-based listening platform for Milk Music; it’s available to everyone on Samsung.com .

Milk VR, the new virtual reality component, will work with Samsung’s Gear VR consumer-3_GalleryImage

If a user accesses Milk VR, he’ll get access to full 360-degree videos in four channels: music, sports, action and lifestyle. According to Samsung, new content will debut five days per week.

“Fresh” and “trending” categories will let Milk VR users see what’s popular. Samsung is collaborating with brands like Mountain Dew, the NBA, Red Bull and others to build an “immersive content library” of virtual-reality videos, according to the company. Milk VR is available to download now.
